ROGUE STEADY ORCHESTRA "Ein Drittel Angst, zwei Drittel Wut" LP

It is the 3rd album from the nine guys of the ska group Rogue Steady Orchestra from Göttingen: powerful and stylistically inspired Ska, which is far away from easy listening and triviality. It has the perfect mixture of danceable and technically ambitious Ska, Punk influences and wonderful German, Spanish and English lyrics. Like almost no other band they have managed to combine political and contemplative lyrics with danceable and powerfully played happy music. The mostly polyphonic songs are supported by a sax and two trumpets. The drums and the two guitars present an offbeat landscape which is sometimes dainty but at no time ornate. The 11 songs are technically ripened and varied by covering the whole spectre of the orchestra: they ruthlessly use Ska, Punk, Swing, Reggae and Rocksteady. The topics of the lyrics are political repression, European walling off, the deceiving warmth of personal moral standards and the never ending search for an utopia. "Ein drittel Angst, zwei drittel Wut" is absolutely the best RSO record up till now, by perfecting the self created genre of Schurkenska. The rapper Chaoze One from Mannheim appears on two songs as a special guest. His political angry lyrics fit perfectly to the Ska sound. Additionally it contains an unusual but very nice cover version of a Subhumans song. The CD appears with a wonderful 12 pages coloured booklet, the LP has printed inner covers.
